The Oakland Elmhurst church began July by rolling out the “Live With Hope Project”, on July 6, 2019. Pastor Kietrich Germany is speaking four nights a week through August 17th. As part of the Live with Hope Project, Elmhurst reached out to the community by hosting a community day of fun and “fish fry”, (vegan and regular) on July 14th followed by its first AMEN Free Community Health Clinic on Sunday, July 21, 2019.
The clinic was a great success, seeing over 85 patients and providing more than 225 services between: dental, vision, medical, diabetic and high blood pressure testing, mental health counseling, drug & alcohol abuse counseling, barber services, massage therapy, clothing distribution, bags were given individuals when they left which contained; Steps to Christ book, Bible studies, glow tracts, personalized pencils, socks, lifestyle booklets, grief share pamphlets (with next session dates) and toiletries. We were also blessed to partner with the Sutter Health Carol Ann Read Breast Health Program Mammography Van and several women were given free mammograms. It was also a blessing to see and hear individuals praying with patients throughout the clinic. Our kitchen staff was also a blessing, providing delicious breakfast and lunch for volunteers and food for our visitors. Everyone had a giving spirit. “
Many volunteers drove from as far as Lodi, Livermore and Fremont to help us with the clinic and worked long after the clinic closed to ensure all patients were seen.
